Hughes - In the Field

Hughes offers many different opportunities for those individuals seeking a technical career path.

Our exclusive apprenticeship program for those with less than five years experience is the educational benchmark for training in our industry. While working full time for Hughes, apprentices receive 200 hours of annual classroom training. Meanwhile, on-the-job training occurs daily -- working with experienced technicians and installing new projects. In addition, manufacturers frequently visit Hughes headquarters for seminars and customized training classes.

Upon attaining journeyman status, technicians skills are constantly refined through experience working on chillers, rooftops, automation and controls, boilers, compressor tear-downs, and low temperature machines. Hughes emphasizes continued education for all employees-- as technology advances, so does Hughes! Promotion opportunities are available in supervisory positions in the Service Department, Installation Department and Office. Many of our Operations Management Team members started as apprentices and have had significant prior field experience with Hughes.

Hughes Environmental Engineering is creating a new permanent position for Marketing Coordinator. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, core responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

       Ongoing research of existing and potential growth markets and targeted customer prospects.
       Database growth and maintenance of prospects.
       Web based marketing efforts and social media.
       Creative development of both online and printed collateral material such as brochures, flyers, and all direct mail efforts.
       Assist Sales staff in getting leads and appointment setting.
       Responsible for all company advertising and trade shows.

The successful candidate will be a detail-driven, well organized professional who can demonstrate concrete experience where marketing or other business development was the primary job description. Outside Service Agreement Sales


Full Time - Salaried with commissions

Hughes Environmental Engineering has openings for full time Outside Service Sales Representatives.

The Hughes sales team is directly responsible for identifying, contacting, and closing signed service contracts for new clients, so prior experience phone prospecting and cold-calling is required. You will target both an existing data base in an assigned territory, and also generate your own leads and prospects.

Compensation includes a base salary and monthly incentive program. Base salary is paid for company promotion and other regular sales related activity, and commissions are paid on signed service agreements.

All new Hughes associates receive extensive initial training and continuing education throughout their careers with the company. Up to 7 overnights per year for training may be required. A valid driver's license is also required.

Staffing Specialist

Controls Manager

Sales Engineer


Full Time - Salaried with benefits

Hughes Environmental Engineering is now hiring for an experienced Sales Engineer for our Engineering Department. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for securing high-quality, negotiated design-build HVAC and other mechanical projects to be performed by our current field staff. Project leads will both come from existing customers, and also be self-generated by the candidate through his or her own contacts. The ideal target HVAC project job size is between $50K to $1 million, and our target geographical area is within 90 minutes of New York City. Low temperature refrigeration experience is helpful but not required.

Job requirements include:

       A proven track record of independently performing load calculations and all required technical expertise to design, sell,
        and deliver a variety of HVAC projects.
       Five years of HVAC Design Build Engineering experience or the equivalent in total HVAC industry experience.
       The ability to provide post-sale support through the coordination of subcontractors, equipment
        and accessory vendors, and internal project coordination in a team environment.
       Basic computer literacy, with CAD a plus but not required.
